My Books About Autism

I currently have three published books

The Secret Life of Rose

My first book, co-authored with my daughter.
A new, updated version is now available to buy.

Each section is written from two perspectives; Rose's as an Autistic child and mine as an Autistic adult and parent of an Autistic child.

Stop The World I Want To Get Off

My second book.

A guide to understanding and supporting the recovery of autistic burnout in children and young people

This book also has a companion training;

Stop The World, I Want To Get Off; Autistic Burnout

Approx. 2 hrs. Includes slides. 30 Days of Access.

This talk comprises of information and insight to aid recognition, recovery and prevention of autistic burnout in children and young people.

"Thank you, this has been so insightful and validating"
"It was very useful and reassuring"
"Incredibly validating on so many levels"
" I wish every professional would watch this, as it has validated our journey"
"This has been really supportive and helpful in our burnout journey"

Young, Autistic and Burnt Out

My third book, co-authored with young autistic people

Aimed at autistic young people, pre-teens and teens, this book guides autistic young people through recognising, understanding and recovering from autistic burnout. Importantly the book emphasises that autistic burnout is a result of the demands the world places on us and that it's not our fault.

"Jodie, you have inspired and opened our eyes to the challenges faced everyday by autistic young people and adults. Amazing training today. Loved the mobile phone analogy. Thank you so much for the session. We look forward to working with you again in the future"

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

Learn about Autism from Autistic People

For too long learning about autism has been focused on 'doing to' autistic people, whereby the non-autistic person has based theories, 'support' and narratives based on external observations of the autistic person. This has led to inaccuracies that continue to cause harm to autistic people.

Thankfully, there is a slow shift and us autistic researchers, academics, practitioners and professionals are growing in numbers, leading to better understanding and outcomes for the autistic community.

I'm Autistic, a parent to Autistic children, a professional with a Masters (with distinction!) in Autism. I live, breathe, study, research autism. Our voices need to be heard in order for others to not only understand autistic experience but also accept it and make adjustments accordingly.

"A well informed practitioner who clearly understands the needs of the child/young person as well as the parents. The webinars I have attended so far have been extremely helpful and informative. I'm so glad Jodie was recommended to me."
